Nursing cover

Hey yall. Well I told yall about the nursing cover and I did get it finished  but I rushed so quickly to get it to my friend that I forgot to take pictures of the final product (which was a good thing because I dropped it off on Wednesday and she had the baby on Thursday morning). So you will have to just imagine the end lol.

Colette Sewing Handbook

So for my birthday I purchased the Colette Sewing Handbook. I’m absolutely in love with this book! I have been sewing on and off for about 4 years now, and I wish this book was around when I started. I have read every sewing book made after 1997 that I have had access to, which is a good amount since I live in a large metropolitan city so I have access to 20+ libraries, and I have my own little library of books that I have purchased at Half Price Books or online. I do have the Burda Style Sewing Handbook also and it’s great but Sarai really went into detail on some aspects of sewing that Burda Style kind of just hinted at and then went on to another subject, like fabric.

Refashion Friday Beige Shawl

When we went on our first vacation (for the both of us as individuals and as a couple), I went shopping, now normally in my day to day clothing I’m not that fancy, I don’t wear much makeup or most of the time none at all. But when it’s a special occasion (at least in my head), I go all out. So I went shopping for outfits and bought a pretty beige shawl with iridescent sequins on it, because you never know when you need some spiffying up.

Breezy Batik Dress Refashion

Hey yall, another day another dollar, right? Well when it comes to this dress it is. This is one of the dresses I scored from Thrift Town the other day. As you can see in this “before” picture it was a hot mess.

Hubby's Bathroom Wrap Tutorial

Here’s a small project I was working on while working on the bleach pen project. Modesty is not something that my husband and son really regard, so they aren’t clad that often, they could live in a nudist colony.

Bye Bye Bow Shirt

(the awful head has no makeup, hair not done, and disappointment spread all over it)
OK so yeah, that bow sleeve top I refashioned was a good lesson; Try on the top even if it looks OK on the body form. I was going to wear it the other day and put it on and went about my business around the house, until I passed the mirror in the hallway. OH NO!! The bows looked like pauldrons. So I came in the bedroom and told my husband, “You could have told me how bad this top looked”! And the sad part was we were going to the doctor’s office. While removing the stitches of the bows I thought OK well I’ll take both of them off and reposition one and have it like one of those bow shouldered tops, but I pined it on and it just really didn’t look right and I decided this is just one for the scrap pile. There was just something about the fabric it was too lose even though I took it in, and the fit was just all wrong. Bye Bye shirt… Oh and I think I'm going to start exercising my arms they're getting fatter, NO!!! I Love my body, but my rolls are getting rolls LOL

Run around day

Hey y'all today I've been just running around trying to get all my errands done and a few post projects situated and documented. So here's a glimpse of what I've been working on (has been sitting in my to do pile).
This is a Leko pattern for a denim skirt but I just 1) don't like long denim skirts & 2) don't have a denim needle yet.

Weekend Overview

Hey yall, what a great weekend I had. Well it started of kinda bad but the most amazing fabric shop made it great. My allergies have been killing me, so bad that it put me down for most of Friday. But then on Saturday I stumbled up on some money and I knew exactly what I wanted, fabric.

Self Drafted Lounge Shorts with Sewing Tutorial

Hey yall, I want to show yall something that I have been working on over the past week. They are a pair of lounge shorts that I self drafted from a ready made pair. I thrifted the fabric and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it (which is rare because im normally the type that buys the fabric then figures out what it will be later. I recently saw a tutorial on how to draft a pattern from a ready made piece of clothing. I fount the tutorial here; http://www.mellysews.com/2011/08/blazer-pattern-making-tutorial-part-1.html.

Recent Creations

Ok so here we go these are some of the things that I have made in the past few months please excuse the background at the moment my husband and I have to shove a whole house in one bedroom in my father-in-law's house until I am able to get a job (wooh is it hard to find a job these days). The body form is of course a duct tape body form which I named "Betty Boobie" for obvious reasons. I find them to be great, but you definitely have to have some one else to help wrap you in the tape. Sorry about the pictures they were taken with my phone. These do not have tutorials or before and afters because they were made before the blog, I promise that there will be with the rest.

Bow sleeved top from a long sleeved top refashion.

Just a simple long sleeve refashion I found while blog surfing pretty easy just follow the directions, and one piece of advice start gathering at the wrist and leave the sleeve cap at the bottom.

Jack Daniels refashion
Originally this was a men's 5x t shirt left by a departed friend, so I cut it right under the sleeves, took in the sides, and sewed some elastic to the top and finished it with a tie for the neck with leftovers from the excess.
