Sequin Leaf Headband
Hey yall. I do a lot of my own hair accessory making, mainly so I can position things how I want them and because it is way cheaper. And my favorite accessory store is in another city so if I'm not going to that city I'm not gonna make a special trip unless I really want some accessories. So this post and the next post are going to be about head bands. I like to purchase my head band supplies on ebay, because well I love ebay. They are always made from some applique or feathers and gems, or a combination of the latter. Today's head band is an applique.

Life Crises...Not Mine
Hey yall. Well I had the meeting with Terry at the farmers market, it was great. It was nice to meet someone face to face that knows what i'm talking about when I mention things like sewing and crafting and fashion styles. And as well she showed me the wonder of the farmers market. Wow is that place great the prices are amazing and everyone tries to feed you. Unfortunately I forgot the camera so we didn't get any pictures. Sorry. But about the title... I don't know if I have ever expressed on the blog or not but I happen to be the one that everyone turns to me when something is wrong, friends, family, and sometimes acquaintances. Well 2 friends and a family member are having some major life crises so I have not been able to work on anything. But I do have some projects up my sleeve. Stay tuned.

Hats and a meet up
Hey yall. Well I have decided to intemperate hats in to my wardrobe and I'm not talking your traditional fedora or cowboy hat (although I do have a fedora in my storage), I'm talking fascinators and derby/church hats. The above collage is just a few of the new purchases that have made my bedroom wall and closet their home. Along with a scarf to match one of the hats and my bauble necklace. Now about the meet up I have the privilege to meet up with one of my fellow Texan bloggers Terry Mann from Urania's Inspiration at the Dallas Farmers Market this weekend I'm so excited. So see yall for now. Pin It Tweet
Nursing cover
Hey yall. Well I told yall about the nursing cover and I did get it finished but I rushed so quickly to get it to my friend that I forgot to take pictures of the final product (which was a good thing because I dropped it off on Wednesday and she had the baby on Thursday morning). So you will have to just imagine the end lol.

Blogging Question
Hey yall. I have been running around the blog world for about 5 years now and the one thing that I have noticed, is that a good majority of the craft bloggers hop from one holiday to another. As soon as new years is over they start crafting for Valentines day, and Halloween crafts start popping up in late august. Why? It just makes no sense to me. Now I completely understand planning for your costume in late august but not the whole holiday. Please if you have the answer, spread the knowledge.

Goats Milk Hand Soap Ebay Sale
Hey yall. I just wanted to stop by and tell yall that i'm going to be selling some of my hand soaps on ebay. They are very highly scented rose shaped soaps made from 100% goats milk and fragrance oil. I have used these on my face with no problem. They come in sets of 3 and come in 2 different scents; Vera Wang Princess and Magnolia. I have many sets of the Magnolia and 3 of the V.W. Princess. The Princess ones are purple with the edges faded and the middle is pure purple (not shown in the picture). There are some color variation in the Princess ones due to my inexperience at coloring. : )

Feather Earring Tutorial
Hey yall. I know I mentioned this tutorial on twitter a good while ago but I finally got around to it. So I know this whole feather fad is going around but the bohemian in me has been wearing feathers since I was 12 (and im 25 now). When I started making these I thought that I wouldn't like them and they were probably going to be a give away. Well sorry yall but I love these they turned out so much better than I thought they would.

Adventures in home made gourmet cooking
So I decided that it was time to try gourmet cooking at home. Now I know how to cook things from scratch, i'm not Betty Crocker (which there was actually no woman named that) but I can cook. I just happen to be lazy and have a horrible gross kitchen where we live and will die of a heat stroke if I stay in there too long.

Sick and Messy
Hey yall. I'm still sick but i'm slowly getting some stuff done. But at the moment I just wanted to share a picture with yall. This is what happens when I get sick in the middle of doing 3 different projects at once.
So hopefully I will have another decor refashion up soon. But hold on with me until then.
So hopefully I will have another decor refashion up soon. But hold on with me until then.
On my desk is vasolene and hair dye, sketch book, duct tape, earring hooks and feathers, a to-do list, fabric, the insides of a seam roll, scraps, the nursing cover draped over my sewing machine, a cute funny book called "All of my friends are dead", and some galaxy print book covers that I have no idea what i'm going to do with.

Pinterest Tryout: No Sew Pillow Case
Hey yall, since i'm still sick I have been doing some stuff slowly, but lucky me I had plenty left over fabric from the nursing cover tutorial. So a Pinterest try out was on brewing. I remembered seeing a tutorial for a simple no sew pillow cover. So I grabbed a random pillow that had some stains on it and went to folding.

But as soon as possible I will have a nursing cover tutorial for yall sans the plastic boning in the top. Reasons 1. I don't have any boning and 2. Dose it really need one? Stay crafty and sane

While I was away
Ok so here's some stuff that I have been doing while not blogging. I decided that instead of just picking out a pattern and a fabric and just sewing them up, that I needed to work on actually designing the clothing and planing properly. Because I have found that I might make something and be really proud that I made it but I don't wear it. So here are some sketches that I sat down and did. I also made myself 2 different sketch books. One is a spiral notebook for designs and just ideas covered with scrapbook paper and some glitter glue, and then one is a sketch book that I made out of some pages from one of my husbands large sketch books that I hand bound. But first I have learned in the time of my husbands illness in the past 5 or so years that to take joy in the little things because nothing in (at least our) life turns out right.

Checking in
Hey yall. I didn't fall off the map I have just been a little busy going to the doctor and court for the dogs. So I went to civil court today for my neighbors dog and come to find out that the white dog that I called animal control for had not only both of his back legs broken but his back was broken as well. Unfortunately there was no reason to keep the other dog that they had from them. But the judge did state that he was afraid for the other dog because of gross negligence and animal abuse. The man has to pay $11,500 for the white dog and will be brought up on criminal charges. The man claimed that I hated him and that all of our neighbors love him. I the trial he asked me (through an interpreter) what I had against him and I told him "nothing I don't know you". The man was clearly lying and he upset the judge so much that he had to recess 3 times before we were done. An event that should have only taken 30 minutes ended up being 2 1/2 hours. So i'm keeping a good eye on that other dog because if he hurts her shes coming over and staying because everyone in the house wants her. I just wish that I could figure out how to save the white dog, but the animal control says that they are not sure if he will be able to be saved, due to the extent of the injuries. So thats what I have been up to. Something crafty will be on soon I promise. Oh I failed to mention I have no light in my bedroom any more!! My ceiling fan light electric went out and we only have one lamp with out a shade so i'm having to work with no light other than an oil lamp and the sewing machine..fun (biggest problem we have blacked out the windows because of the Texas heat).

Advanced Style
Hey yall. My mother always told me that she dreaded and cried when she turned 30. But my mother was beautiful at 35 when she had me. But my mother is not a fashionable woman at all. So I grew up thinking that wearing heels and makeup and dresses was something you do when your getting dressed up to go some where. Well ladies I want to tell you something, I turned 25 last week and I am just becoming the fashionable beautiful woman that I should have been long ago because of living with my mother in law, she always put her "face" on every day. And I learned something from that, every day you should look your best! I have always loved makeup and have always owned a hoard of purses, shoes, and makeup (at one time I had a milk crate full of makeup but now its just a drawer full). But back to the subject, aging is not something to be afraid of! Especially in our society where 50 is the new 40 and so on. Before I started my blog I read a blog called "Advanced Style", where a man named Ari Seth Cohen photographed women aged 60+ some of these women are 98-101 years old. And these ladies have some serious style and a wonderful outlook on life. This further inspired me to be beautiful and realize that age dosn't matter you can look beautiful at any age. So ladies don't dread age embrace it, and always stay stylish.
Heres Aris' trailor for his new documentary. He has also written a book titled "Advanced Style" Please go check out his site and his book. Advanced Style

Colette Sewing Handbook
So for my birthday I purchased the Colette Sewing Handbook.
I’m absolutely in love with this book! I have been sewing on and off for about
4 years now, and I wish this book was around when I started. I have read every
sewing book made after 1997 that I have had access to, which is a good amount
since I live in a large metropolitan city so I have access to 20+ libraries,
and I have my own little library of books that I have purchased at Half Price
Books or online. I do have the Burda Style Sewing Handbook also and it’s great
but Sarai really went into detail on some aspects of sewing that Burda Style
kind of just hinted at and then went on to another subject, like fabric.

Not Closing Just Slowing It Down
Hey yall, I decided to not shut the blog down. I enjoy sharing with yall, and the feed back that I get, and even though it's been just a few days I feel that I have a gap in my life now. I know it's weird but it's kind of like loosing a friend and I can't do that, yall mean more to me than any frustration the blog causes me. So because of this, I have decided that I need to slow down, not post so much and I think that I will be able to sustain the blog and the quality of posts. Thank all of you who view and comment on the blog. I hope the ones who have read the last post (which is going to be removed) come by just to check in and will see that i'm still here.

Prince Candle Holders
(I have no idea what that blue spot is)
Hey yall, so this is another set of items that have been sitting in my to do pile for almost a year now. I know that’s a long time but when its sitting out in the garage its “out of sight out of mind” ya know? But anyways I'm really not much one for sanding but I did a little just to rough it up grabbed what I needed and went to work. The reason these caught my eye is because they remind me of the symbol Prince changed his name to, before he changed it back. I mean come on who changes their name to a symbol? But its Prince, he can do what ever he likes, and I still love his sexy little butt. *thought* he is a little man, weird but what ever.Pin It Tweet

Out for the day
Hey yall, well I don't have a refashion Friday project. I would but I jacked up the sewing and it took me (not kidding) from 6pm to 10pm to completely rip 2 seams. I learned 2 things, 1. I need to stop sewing my seams with my small zigzag stitch and 2. if your making a butterfly top the arm seams have to be sewn on the outside because you can not turn it right side out when your done! Argg my hands kinda hurt today. But lesson learned and moving forward, my birthday is today so im going to be out for the day so sorry for the lack of a quality post. Check yall tomorrow. But I did finish the dress before we went out so here's a picture of me in it and my glitter shoes (which did not hold up again the glitter came off so its time to soak and start over with something else), and I will post the tutorial later.
Please keep in mind this is not my house and I live with 4 grown men including my husband so the nastiness is not me it was here before me.

Clothing Evaluation
So after reading the Colette Sewing Handbook I decided to
actually take a look at my closet like it said and then I decided to pull out
the things that I didn’t wear. I will admit I didn’t pull much out, I don’t
know why I guess i'm a clothes hoarder lol who knows. But any way I also
decided to take a better look at the clothing that I own, clothing that I like
online, as well as the patterns I own (which is a lot since I buy Leko patterns
on cd) and the fabric I have. I realized that even though I have
done my best to branch out to colors (my previous wardrobe was black and blue,
normally jeans and t-shirts), I just seem to still gravitate to wearing black,
purple, blue and sometimes pink. But all my fabric is in all theses pretty
bright colors, which makes me think I might sew them up and then they will go
to “back” (actually sides) of the closet and not get worn and that’s just a
waste of money and time. I really don’t know what to do, since they are
patterned as well as colored so I cant just dye it. I guess I’ll just hope for
the best. Bye yall Decor Refashion tomorrow!

Pinterest tryout Book Page Table Runner
Today is another Pinterest try out, the book page table runner. So I got to making the book page table runner and I chose the smallest book which was “To kill a mockingbird”, which I have never read. Well as I was assembling my table runner my husband said “what book is that” I told him what it was and he said “that book is everything we stand against”, I said ok and kept going along and he kept writing on his book. Then I noticed a specific word that I’m quite sensitive to

Rummaged Stuff
So today I found out that the lady down the street died, I didn’t know her personally but my husband said she was a sweet lady he had know her his whole life, he would ask her if he could pick a rose from her bushes to bring to me. I saw her son moving some stuff out yesterday and then this morning I was driving to go check out the Goodwill store I have never been to, well lets just say my normal haunt is much better on prices. But when I came back home I stopped by her house and rummaged through some stuff, its amazing how much you can learn about a person just by looking through some of their belongings,

Refashion Friday Beige Shawl
When we went on our first vacation (for the both of us as individuals and as a couple), I went shopping, now normally in my day to day clothing I’m not that fancy, I don’t wear much makeup or most of the time none at all. But when it’s a special occasion (at least in my head), I go all out. So I went shopping for outfits and bought a pretty beige shawl with iridescent sequins on it, because you never know when you need some spiffying up.

Tightwad Tip of the Month
This month is about organization, now I am a pretty
organized person, it comes to me easily but my husband on the other hand is the
complete opposite. I have to do routine trash pickups on his side of the room
because he will just throw it on a table that he has or it “falls” underneath
the bed. So as I was reading The Complete Tightwad Gazette, I came across a
section about organization. I’ve never personally done this but it seems pretty
easy and time saving.

with silicone bake wear, and extender ring, pizza cutter/server, pizza or

Bye Bye Bow Shirt
(the awful head has no makeup, hair not done, and disappointment spread all over it)
OK so yeah, that bow sleeve top I refashioned was a good
lesson; Try on the top even if it looks OK on the body form. I was going to
wear it the other day and put it on and went about my business around the
house, until I passed the mirror in the hallway. OH NO!! The bows looked like
pauldrons. So I came in the bedroom and told my husband, “You could have told
me how bad this top looked”! And the sad part was we were going to the doctor’s
office. While removing the stitches of the bows I thought OK well I’ll take
both of them off and reposition one and have it like one of those bow
shouldered tops, but I pined it on and it just really didn’t look right and I
decided this is just one for the scrap pile. There was just something about the
fabric it was too lose even though I took it in, and the fit was just all
wrong. Bye Bye shirt… Oh and I think I'm going to start exercising my arms they're getting fatter, NO!!! I Love my body, but my rolls are getting rolls LOL

A quick note for those struggling with mental disorders and marriage
Hey I stumbled upon a site called Battling Bare its about women standing up and fighting against PTSD. Their husbands are soldiers that came back irreparably damaged from war, if they try to get help their husbands can get dishonorably discharged. What a crock.. They need help for what has happened to them in the line of duty. Please stop by and look and like them on Facebook. As I read their bio I cried because its not just a military thing, sometimes our men have some kind of trauma, and it turns our marriage up side down, I cry for every woman, and man that has to deal with this, but it makes us stronger. My husband some how developed a few diseases (fibromyalgia, degenerative disk disorder, spinal stenosis, and spondalosis) about 5 years ago, these diseases don't occur except in the elderly (except fibromyalgia) and my hubby is 27. Because of this he has lost the feeling of his left lower leg and hip area, which cause him to have to use a cane or wheel chair. He has more bad days then good. And because of this he has developed PTSD that has led to Borderline personality disorder, DID (multiple personalities) & extreme Bipolar. I know most people don't want things like this known but it needs to be addressed. Mental disorders can cause someones world to turn upside down. I have bipolar too but its no big deal. But if it wasn't for hearing other peoples struggles and how they dealt with it, and even TV, The United States of Tera, has helped me learn how to deal with these issues. Now im passing it on, Dont give up even when things feel like they can get no better and only worse, turn to some one who knows, life feels like a roller coaster from minute to minute, your love is the strongest medicine. But if you feel like you cant go on, talk to someone, or go to a park and just swing for a little while, those moments of peace will help you through. I promise.

store any where but on the wall because of the feathers. Even though I have a
tonnage of hair accessories I don’t really own that many hair combs, mainly
because they don’t hold my thick hair back so really what’s the use when I have
to have other pins and stuff right there so the just get in the way. But these

Pinterest Fact or Fiction
In a recent post I said that one of the set of series post was
going to be about Pinterest. Well I have decided to call it “Pinterest: Fact or
Fiction”. So far that I’m aware of there
isn’t anything called that, so hopefully I’m not stepping on any toes, I do
know that there is a series of posts called “Pinterest Fail” this is not the
same thing. I know that a lot of you have seen stuff on Pinterest that just
seemed too good to be true. Case in point the “Glowing Mountain Dew”, we all
now know that it is a hoax and that they put some kind of glow stick in the
bottle. But there are many others out there that have not been tested. These
posts are about the method and result, are the results achievable with the
stated method and if not how do you get that result. (Disclaimer I am not
bashing or stealing credit in any way I just want to give the public proper
information and my opinion)
(I repeat this is not my picture this is from pinterest and oh so pretty the diaries)
So with out further a due I give you “Pinterest fact or
fiction # 1 Ziplock baggie manicure paint”.
I found this picture on pinterest and then found the tutorial on http://ohsoprettythediaries.com
these ladies have some serious style and great info, I hope this works because
I agree with them, its just too damn hard to paint a design on your
non-dominant hand.

they are. So I went to my trusty shopping friend ebay and looked for some
charms and I came across these hand mirror charms with a rhinestone in the
bottom so of course I had to have them…(I have a mirror obsession) When I got
them and opened it to my surprise they actually were mirrors not just a charm
that looks like one but an actual mirror! So of course these had to become a pair of earrings, and if I might
say so myself one of the most unique pair ive seen. So now i’ll show you how to
make them.

Whats going on
Hey y'all, its Sunday and man is it hot. Today I just wanted to let y'all know whats going to be going on in this blog. I've decided that I want to make a few series of posts. When im blog surfing some of the things I enjoy most is the sets of series that I see on other blogs, it makes me eager to see that next post, sometimes it makes me feel like a kid who celebrates Hanukkah. So since that's one of my favorite things im going to pass that joy on to you.

Craft Fail
Hey ya'll today I want to talk about a craft fail I have recently had. So im sure you know that you can find glittery shoes all over. Well of course im going to DIY it so I went to the thrift store and found a perfect pair of heels in my size (which is rare because im actually a half size an a wide too). So home with me they went. After all my wrapping the heel and sole so only the upper part was sprayed, I started spraying it with Krylon Glitter Blast in twilight sky and it took a few coats to get it fully covered. Man did it look awesome
Statement Ring DIY
Well one of my favorite things to do is make jewelry, mainly because it's quick and relatively easy depending on what your making. Today's tutorial is on how to make a statement ring out of a cool looking button. I have previously made rings from buttons, pieces of discarded necklaces, and adornments from worn out flip flops. I do a lot of online shopping so I got my ring blanks from ebay, but you can get them from many places etsy, ebay, artfire, and walmart craft section. (sorry for the bad pics will be getting better camera soon and the pics will be taken by my photographer honey)

The Tightwad Gazette
What can I say about The Complete Tightwad Gazette written by Amy Dacyczyn (pronounced decision), other than it's freaken great. I first heard about it on Dollarstorecrafts.com and they were talking about washing and reusing plastic baggies. While at the time I thought that was a little extreme it sparked my interest and I put in a request at my library for it. Well I recieved it and woo wee is it way too big to read in 3 weeks and it was nonrenewable because apparently it's requested by tons of people, I had to wait 2 months just to recive it. Well I read it to about the third page into the second book (its made of 3 books that were printed with articles from the monthly gazette) then I had to give it back.

Recent Creations
Ok so here we go these are some of the things that I have made in the past few months please excuse the background at the moment my husband and I have to shove a whole house in one bedroom in my father-in-law's house until I am able to get a job (wooh is it hard to find a job these days). The body form is of course a duct tape body form which I named "Betty Boobie" for obvious reasons. I find them to be great, but you definitely have to have some one else to help wrap you in the tape. Sorry about the pictures they were taken with my phone. These do not have tutorials or before and afters because they were made before the blog, I promise that there will be with the rest.
Bow sleeved top from a long sleeved top refashion.
Just a simple long sleeve refashion I found while blog surfing pretty easy just follow the directions, and one piece of advice start gathering at the wrist and leave the sleeve cap at the bottom.
Jack Daniels refashion
Originally this was a men's 5x t shirt left by a departed friend, so I cut it right under the sleeves, took in the sides, and sewed some elastic to the top and finished it with a tie for the neck with leftovers from the excess.
Givin it a chance
Hi I'm Meka and welcome to my blog, I discovered my creativeness a few years back when I got tired of sitting around the house while my hubby was working or playing video games. So I started off making jewelry and hair accessories, then beauty products, then moved to general decor crafting, and lastly on to sewing (completely self taught with the help of many bloggers and their wonderful tutorials). I continued to surf through blogs daily and I would talk about these bloggers to my hubby who then began to suggest that I make a blog my self. So after much apprehension here it is; Texas Bohemian Creations, at first it might be a little slow going since this is the first blog I've had and I have to get adjusted to a blogging life, so please bear with me and any grammar mistakes I make (im southern so there will be a good amount of y'all's and other southern grammar, gotta love it), eventually I'll get the kinks worked out. On here you will find my creations and tutorials of all new projects, the occasional thought, and some of my inspirations. Comments and questions are always welcome, and I will do my best to answer them daily because if it wasn't for y'all I'd just be another blog and I hope to be more than that. So thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you'll stick around and see what I come up with.
